Summary/Objective

Compassionate Clinical Nurse Manager will oversee nursing staff and daily operations. In this role, you will collaborate with site director to determine budget guidelines, expenditures, and staffing needs. You will evaluate nursing staff performance and recommend commendation or disciplinary action as necessary, as well as be directly involved in hiring and training new nursing staff, ensuring they understand our standard procedures and are equipped to provide excellent care to our patients.

Essential Functions

1. Review departmental budget and expenditures to meet budget targets.

2. Will work after hours and on the floor as necessary to supervise and provide patient care.

3. Oversees the supervision of quality client care by the Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, CMA’s, CNA’s, Recovery Specialists and Recovery Advocates and is responsible for all patient care and employee satisfaction.

4. Conduct Infection Control verification and complete checklist monthly to ensure staff compliance.

5. Monitors all client care locations’ compliance with applicable standards, regulation and laws.

6. Maintains medical and pharmaceutical supplies at established par levels to ensure promotion of cost effectiveness.

7. Schedule medication destruction with consulting pharmacist

8. Establish and maintain relationships with 3rd party vendors (i.e. pharmacies, mobile labs, diagnostic labs, wholesale supply distributers).

9. Coordinates with the Medical Director to:

a. Maintain nurse/doctor relationships;

b. Establish and update admit orders and protocols;

c. Review and revise medical forms as needed;

d. Review medical sections of P&P for revisions annually or for clarification as needed.

10. Coordinate with Training to:

a. Conduct new hire training for the nursing staff;

b. Develop additional trainings and/or revise current trainings;

c. Trains all staff on self-administration of medication.

11. Coordinate with HR to:

a. Effectively and promptly responding to personnel disciplinary issues utilizing the performance management documentation with the inclusion of performance improvement plans;

b. Participation in the interviewing and hiring process with the Human Resources Department;

c. Ensure nursing staff renews their licenses, CPR certifications, and other required trainings;

d. Conducts nursing competency evaluations within 60 days of training completion;

e. Annual performance reviews for nursing staff;

f. Maintain OSHA 300 log

g. Conduct annual P&P review.

12. Coordinate with Detox RA Supervisor to:

a. Ensure staffing between departments is adequate for client care;

b. Train/retrain RA staff on Detox monitors/COWS/CIWA and Self-Administration of Medication.

13. Coordinate with Compliance Officer to:

a. Develop and oversee infection control plan and hand hygiene plan;

b. Perform chart audits to ensure nurses/physicians are completing forms completely and correctly;

c. Oversee nurse charting in BestNotes meets requirements;

d. Maintain HIPAA violation log;

e. Review incident reports;

f. Ensure medications and supplies are ordered, documented, stored, and destroyed according to regulatory standards.

14. Demonstrate competency in supervising department personnel by:

a. Supervises daily operations of all nursing functions;

b. Assuring adequate nurse staffing is maintained during the week to effectively handle work demand;

c. Appointing proper personnel to be in-charge during personal absences from work; communicating who is in charge to leadership team and notifying immediate supervisor of scheduled and emergency time off in a timely manner;

d. Assuring all employees accurately account for all time worked in the department, and process biweekly payroll.

e. Understand and strictly adhere to policies regarding sexually or other harassment and violence in the workplace. Carefully observing inter and intra departmental employees for any indications of abuse or harassment, immediately reporting any suspicions or knowledge of violations to the Human Resources Department and/or the Chief Operating Officer as well other appropriate managers as defined in policies.

f. Retraining nursing staff based on competency and performance reviews.

g. Conducts one on one meetings with nurses, with a specified group, or all nurses to educate on select items or address specific issues or concerns.

15. Maintains confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clients, staff, and any other information this position may be privy to.

16. Acts as a representative of Nova Recovery Center at work and in the community by representing a favorable image of the center to all outside contacts with courteous and tactful behavior toward clients, visitors, and other staff.

17. Demonstrates ability to be a team player by offering solutions to problems identified and participating in the Quality Assurance program, when appointed or able.

18. Dresses in an appropriate manner according to the dress code.

19. Able to work well under pressure.

20. Responsible for being at work, on time, per the established schedule, as applicable.

21. Practices in compliance with the Code of Ethical Conduct within the employee handbook.

22. Completes required in-service training and continuing education within required timelines.

23. Complies with all applicable Nova Recovery Policies and Procedures.

24. All other duties and/or special projects as assigned by Management.

Work Environment

This job operates in a nursing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear. This position requires long periods of standing, periodic sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. This position requires lifting and/or moving items up to 10 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position and hours of work are scheduled by the COO. The facility is open 7 days a week/24 hour a day/365 day a year and your schedule may include working weekends and holidays.

Travel

Nova Recovery Center operates and cares for clients 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours per day at the Residential locations. This position is crucial to the care of Nova’s clients. As such, you may be required to travel to other Nova locations in the State of Texas. Refusal to travel to other Nova locations may be subject to disciplinary measures up to and including termination.

Required Education and Experience

Registered Nurse in the State of Texas

Minimum 3 years of hospital or detox experience with 1-year supervisory experience

CARN preferred

12 Step program experience preferred

BLS and CPR Certification

General Qualifications

Must have excellent customer service skills and organizational skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills- proficient with Microsoft Office-especially Word and Excel. The ability to work with other departments within the Nova Recovery LLC programs. Ability to be a self-starter with minimal supervision.

Pay: $36.00 - $42.00 per hour
