Job Title: Manager Clinical Nursing

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining twenty-four (24) hours accountability of the resident or patient unit assignment. Shapes and interprets the philosophy and definition of nursing as it relates to short and long-term planning, program development, resource and budget management, quality assurance and systems utilization. Works in collaboration with nursing and rehab staff to ensure accurate, timely completion of Minimum Data Set and Resident Assessment Protocols.


Essential Job Functions

  • Participates in the selection, training, and evaluation, coaching and counseling of staff
  • Plans, selects, and devises nursing operations, work, methods procedures, workflow and standards for quality of work including staffing standards
  • Maintains appropriate staffing and supply levels for the unit
  • Evaluates compliance with established standards and regulatory agencies and takes appropriate action
  • Ensures both staff and own personal and professional development through attendance of in-services, meetings, and continuing education courses
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Program and Risk Management activities
  • Completes a Minimum Data Sheet (MDS) on assigned residents/patients per the established department guidelines. OBRA Minimum Data sheets are combined with PPS/MDS as needed
  • Ensures assessments of Medicare (SNF) residents are completed as per PPS schedule
  • Ensures full assessments are completed every 366 days including a Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPs)
  • Informs the interdisciplinary team in a timely manner of assessment deadlines findings that are relevant to their area of responsibility
  • Ensures all MDS’s generated are complete and filed properly
  • Conducts MDS audits on all assigned residents
  • Develops/completes a care plan on all assigned and communicates to all parties involved
  • Prepares budget for assigned area program and is responsible for adherence to approved budget
  • Evaluates compliance with established standards and regulatory agencies and takes appropriate action
  • Ensures both staff and own personal and professional development through attendance of in-services, meetings, and continuing education courses
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Program and risk management activities

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

Experience:

  • Five years progressive experience in clinical positions.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience required

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current RN License by the Florida State Board of Nursing
  • BLS certification required
  • ANCC or specialty certification preferred

Abilities Required

  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic planning, results oriented, highly develops leadership skills
  • Knowledgeable in organization assessment, policy development and financial functions
