Job description
SUMMARY:
Operate machinery associated with the production of high precision parts, monitor and control the quality of machining processes by utilizing process control techniques. Participate in continuous improvement activities that result in reducing waste and improving quality in the manufacturing process. Independently solves problems related to part change over and tool changes. May run more than one machine simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observe all safety rules and regulations, including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment. Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Read part prints and job orders for all product specifications (i.e. dimensions, tolerances, inspection, number of parts to be machined and tooling instructions).
- Use machine controls to cycle machine through production operations, adjustments to tool positions and changing tools. Also, use machine controls to review machine operating criteria such as cycle time and spindle rpm.
- Install specified collets, bushings and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and load bar stock into feeding mechanism.
- Change, position and secure tools in tool-holders by utilizing tool monitoring system and presetting equipment.
- Perform first piece sample inspection according to the operation control plan. Monitor part dimensions by utilizing qualified measuring devices.
- Maintain all lubricants and coolants used in daily operation on the machine.
- Understand and follow the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to perform all essential duties of a Secondary Machinist.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1 year experience, to include 6 months related manufacturing work experience, with a proven track record of required skills and abilities (see above)
- Ability to remain productive under indirect supervision and follow verbal and written instructions and techniques
- Basic mathematical aptitude required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
