We are seeking passionate writers with a desire to share their expertise in an education setting. College Essay Instructors work with high school juniors and seniors on their college application essays, including UC, Common App, and Supplements for private universities. They are master-writers, and have the tenacity and drive to develop and nurture students’ writing abilities. Essay instructors meet with students either online or face to face from June through January, or until the students’ essays are complete.

Must have impeccable grammar skills, story telling know how, and an ability to help others realize their best selves.

This is a contract position, hours may vary, and it may take time to grow your client base (i.e. you may start with an hour or two there, but over time grow to have 10-20 hours per week).

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Creative Writing, or Humanities from a U.S. Top 50 college or university
• Strong communication skills to establish rapport with students and Admissions Consultants
• Proven writers and experienced instructors who can drive a student to succeed and who are committed to helping students tell their story
• Experience teaching or tutoring high school students
• Availability to work at least some evenings and Saturdays consistently

What we’d love but don’t need:

• Masters Degree in English or Creative Writing
• Familiar with the U.S. college application process/essays

Requirements:

Must have a computer, fast internet connection, Skype, ability to use a pen tablet, availability afternoons, nights and or weekends, friendly demeanor, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

If you have experience tutoring test prep we also are hiring tutors who have scored 750+ on either section of the SAT / 1500+ total at minimum OR must have scored a minimum of a 34 on the ACT (composite).

Because you will be working with minors, you must agree to undergo a background check and provide references.
