Job description
Under the direction of the Senior Content Manager, the Content/Curriculum Assistant will act as the point person for a number of chapter teams' production, review, and editing processes for the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Multimedia Textbook, a project of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center. The CCA will guide chapter teams through the content development process with the goal of producing a narrative, lesson plans, multimedia, and supporting materials to hand off to the editorial team. The CCA will also document workflows for content development, provide input on processes, and provide suggestions for improvement. Day-to-day activities include writing correspondences, scheduling meetings, documenting updates, identifying roadblocks, anticipating next steps for content development, as well as gathering questions to be raised to the Senior Content Manager.

The AAPI Multimedia Textbook is a narrative change project that brings together distinguished scholarship, open access technology, and ethnic studies pedagogy to deepen public knowledge about who we are, strengthen students' historical empathy and bring AAPI stories into every classroom. It is a free AAPI resource geared toward students and instructors in 9th-14th grade classrooms.

Strong oral and written communication skills to obtain and convey information clearly and to interact with individuals at various levels.

Strong writing and editing skills to draft grammatically correct correspondences and other documents.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Skill in working independently and successfully following through on assignments with minimal direction.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people at all levels from on and off campus.

Demonstrated high level of skill in using PC in word processing, email applications, and internet browsers.

Demonstrated ability in arranging meetings and scheduling appointments using a computer calendar program.

Excellent organizational skills.

Bachelor of Arts in Asian American Studies or related field, or equivalent familiarity with the field.

Preferred

Demonstrated ability to summarize, compose, and produce weekly documentation reports.

Familiarity with professional messaging programs like Slack.

Familiarity with project management programs like Asana, Trello, and Notion.
