The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona
The Role
Contractor Management Process Owner is responsible for the end-to-end (full process from start to finish) of the Contractor Management process. Position requirements are to assess, documentation and gain approval from the Global Process Owner. The contract management process owner is responsible for the governance and assurance of the overall Contractor Management System of Work across South32 projects seeing the process through from the kick-off through the final product.
Accountabilities (Include but are not limited to):
Individual Accountabilities:
- Ensure the process is fit for purpose, has been designed and documented to deliver value to stakeholders / customers
- Develop gap closure plans to ensure implementation of the contract management system of work
- Collaborate effectively with other Critical Process Owners to align objectives and simplify our way of working, ensuring everyone is engaged in the contract management system of work
- Facilitate a Change Impact Assessment (CIA) for operation or function to enable readiness and develop change deployment plans
- Ensure that any risks and supporting controls are identified, understood by Risk Owners, and managed within Global360. Were the Process Owner is also the Risk Owner, ensure risks are managed as per the South32 Material Risk Management Standard and Procedure
- Ensure appropriate training is in place to support process users to understand their role in executing the process for contract management systems
- Define needed resources to deploy the contractor management system based on the size, complexity and gap assessments needing performed
- Facilitate implementing systems and process integration across multiple processes within the Operation or Function
- Ensure the critical process is well understood and has all necessary documentation (including process maps, policies, standards, procedures, and tools as required) in place
- Ensure all documentation for the process follows the expectations detailed within this document and process maps are published in accordance with the relevant process document repository for the Operation or Function as defined within the Information Management Standard
- Develop local procedure to ensure implementation of sustainability, to include a governance and structure of implementation
- Create learning to improve overall effectiveness of implementation of the Operation and Function to ensure processes are embedded
- Design of a tracking matrix for progress that is aligned with the business plan to include KPI’s for contract management process implementation for the site
Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, such as project management, mechanical or mining related Engineering degrees
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience of engineering in a mining environment supporting and managing medium to large capital projects
- 5+ years of experience in Project Management with track record of executing projects successfully from concept to completion (Preferred)
- Solid understanding of project management techniques and managing procedures required
- Experience running projects in a mining industry
- PMP Certification preferred
- Effective communication and presentation skills (verbal & written). Must be comfortable speaking with employees at all levels of the organization
- Solid knowledge of contracts (design & construction), schedules, cost estimating and the design process
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of legal terminology
- Comfortable working as part of a multidimensional team
- Exemplify a strong attention to detail
- Possesses superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
- Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs aimed towards project management
- Previous experience working with contract regulations and related laws is strongly preferred
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Capable of professionally managing confidential information
- Exemplify creative problem-solving abilities
