Position Summary:
Manages the activities of and assists in establishing the goals of the Accounting Department for HDH and all related entities including HDH Foundation, Professional Services Corporation, and Highland Joint Township District Hospital Foundation. Prepares monthly financial statements, required governmental filings and assists in development of annual budgets. Oversees the preparation of Highland Health Providers Corporation financials statements, schedules, budgets, and required filings. Oversees all accounts payable and non-patient accounts receivable processes.

Position Summary:

Prepares monthly financial statements, required governmental filings and assists in development of annual budgets. Oversees the preparation of Highland Health Providers Corporation financials statements, schedules, budgets, and required filings. Oversees all accounts payable and non-patient accounts receivable processes.
Position Accountabilities:
- Prepares monthly financial statements including related statistics and analytical schedules in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Establishes and monitors systems of internal control.
- Reviews and/or prepares general ledger account reconciliations.
- Reviews and/or prepares monthly journal entries.
- Develops and maintains processes to accurately account for bad debt reserves and third party contractual allowances.
- Prepares and/or reviews required federal, state and local tax returns.
- Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and provides support to department managers.
- Develops supporting information for the annual HCAP, Medicare, and Medicaid cost reports.
- Manages the support for the annual independent audit.
- Supervises and provides development/leadership to the Accounting and Payroll departments.
- Conducts monthly department meetings to keep staff informed of departmental and organizational issues. Documents, posts, and retains minutes of departmental meetings.
- Evaluates the performance of staff in accordance with the organization’s policy.
- Protects confidentiality and privacy, including but not limited to, HIPAA policies, proprietary and financial information.
- Performs other projects and analysis as assigned.
- Responsible for abiding by and adhering to all HDH Corporate Compliance Program initiatives and standards.
- Responsible for compliance with HDH safety standards, policies and procedures.

Position Qualifications:
Education – Required: Bachelors Degree in accounting
Education – Preferred: Masters Degree and CPA designation.
Minimum Experience: 3 years as a controller in an acute care facility or assistant controller in a larger acute care organization.
Preferred Experience: 5 years as a controller in an acute care facility or assistant controller in a larger acute care organization including experience with a broad range of diversified healthcare services.
Competencies Required: Departmental management, supervision and organizational skills; development and implementation of sound accounting systems; written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of healthcare organizations, accounting controls, Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurances, reimbursement methodologies and healthcare information systems. Proficient at Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Supervises: Accounting Analyst, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounting Staff
