Youngquist Brothers is looking for the ideal candidate to fill the role of Controls and Automation Engineer.

This person would be responsible for the design, specification, upgrades, commissioning and troubleshooting of drilling rig equipment control systems. This person would work closely with the mechanical and maintenance personnel to analyze root causes of equipment failures and propose corrective actions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • For existing equipment, provide troubleshooting of electrical and electronic controls problems or breakdowns.
  • Perform modifications in PLC's/drives/control electronics as needed for new drilling techniques.
  • Perform evaluations of existing equipment controls and network systems.
  • Perform upgrades as required.

COMPETENCY:

  • Expertise in PLC ladder logic design and troubleshooting.
  • Confident in Siemens PLCs and associated hardware
  • Software programs such as Step 7, TIA Portal.
  • Expertise in motor controllers/VFD's, such as Siemens S120 and G120
  • Experience in SCADA software such as Ignition, and WinCC .
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure during troubleshooting of drilling equipment breakdown.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with good prioritization skills.
  • Self-starter, with solid oral and written communication skills.
  • POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
  • Full Time, salary. May need to work outside of normal hours including call ins, weekends, and holidays.
  • TRAVEL: Some Travel (Mostly in South Florida)

EDUCATION: BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Instrumentation & Control Technician: 5 years (Preferred)

All tools provided by the company.

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
