Are you ready to take ownership of implementing and executing targeted sales strategies to achieve sales objectives and impact business growth? As a Business Development Associate with PSSI, you will be responsible for calling new potential clients and web leads to provide them with all services offered. You will also handle customer and Sales Team Personnel inquiries promptly and effectively, providing support in processing new business, monitoring customer metrics, and scheduling follow-up. THE WORK YOU WILL DO:
As the Business Development Associate, you will be the go-to team guru for all research, customer insight, and sales ammunition. In more detail, you will:
- Drive growth of the business through a concrete understanding of the assigned markets and a strategic approach to building an effective sales call plan
- Identify business opportunities, proactively develop connections with new prospects, and actively build existing relationships
- Identify competitors, their offerings and strategies
- Become a subject matter expert on our business, processes, and operations while remaining up to date on industry news
- Monitor the sales lead process for the team, ensuring leads are assigned and executed against in a timely manner; tracked and monitored according to the sales purchase funnel in Salesforce CRM
- Conduct outreach to prospects to coordinate meetings with Sales Team through any media channel necessary (email, phone, direct mail, social, live, creative personalized outreach, etc.)
- Manage the use of Salesforce.com across the PSSI Sales Team as a data repository, reporting tool, and forecasting tool to manage customer relationships and active sales
- Understand and keep up-to-date with constant developments within USDA, FDA, CFIA, and target market industries
- Review and understand new opportunities and products within PSSI that separate us from the competition (Continuous Improvement, Real-Time Performance Metrics, Full Food Safety Solutions Program, etc.) and communicate those strengths to prospective and existing customers
- Support Business Development activities to new prospective markets and reconnecting with lost business/customers
- Collaborate with Sales and Operational teams on RFPs and process improvements
- Special Projects and other duties as assigned
YOUR MUST HAVES:
As a Business Development Associate, you must have a high initiative, a knack for digging up the details in research, and have mastered the art of tactful follow-up. In this role, we require:
- Associates degree in a business-related field OR 3 years experience in Sales
- Customer facing experience
- Proven research skills

OUR ENVIRONMENT:
This position is based in a combination of your home office and our Corporate Headquarters in Kieler, WI. Walking, standing, sitting, and computer work are all required in this environment.
