Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Contractor Controls Specialist with our Safety & Health team.

Responsibilities:

• Training
• Audit contractors appropriately per MSHA requirements and legal liability
• Ensure training materials are up to date and turned in appropriately
• Formal incident investigation and reporting
• Risk Assessment Facilitation
• Environmental Compliance
• Procedures and Standard Development
• Systems development and implementation for managing, auditing, reporting, procedures, and corrective actions, filed time, and field verification
• Collaborative work is anticipated with but not limited to Contractor’s Control, Area Management, Area Personnel, Supply Chain/Contracts, Environmental, Divisional Trainers, and Project Management

Qualifications:

• Goal oriented and self-driven motivated person required
• Planning and organizational skills required
• Excellent communication skills—both oral and written required
• A good working knowledge of metal processing, open pit and underground mining, their safety practices and methods, procedures, and legislative requirements preferred
• Ability to use Microsoft Office software required
• Sound understanding of safety and environment requirements associated with mining preferred
• Good knowledge and ability to work in or comparable programs such as Word, Power Point, Excel, Oracle, Intelex, Avetta preferred
• Good working knowledge of regulatory requirements required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick’s Cortez; the combination of Barrick’s Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp’s Carlin; and the combination of Barrick’s Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp’s Twin Creeks. In addition, Barrick’s Goldrush-Fourmile project has the potential to become the fourth Tier One asset in this portfolio.
