Counselor - Recovery | Wooded Glen Recovery Center | Henryville, Indiana
Now offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus!
The Counselor provides treatment and support to assist patients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 8:30am-5:00pm
What we seek in our Therapist/Substance Abuse Counselors:
- Master's degree in social or health services field, with 1+ year professional work experience. (required)
- Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
- Licensure or certification for counseling by the state in which the facility operates. (required
- CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- Strong critical thinking and writing skills

Our Therapists/Counselors analyze patients, develop treatment plans, provide individual and group therapy to patients consistent with their treatment plans, and prepare patients for discharge. This role works independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of an integrating team under the leadership of our Director of Clinical Services.
What you will do as a Therapist/Substance Abuse Counselor:
- Carry an individual case load of patients; meet with them weekly
- Develop Treatment Plans plus review and edit them at least weekly
- Attend Treatment Team meetings
- Lead psycho-educational group therapy sessions
- Develop or improve materials and topics for group therapy
- Lead lectures and therapy sessions for patient family members
- Conduct bio/psycho/social assessments
- Timely prepares progress notes and treatment updates in the medical record. Maintains all clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with everyone, especially on the treatment teams
- Ensures each assigned client has a structured and clinically appropriate post care plan. Acts as Liaison to referral sources and support of continuation of care.
- Applies psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Co-facilitates assigned group or family sessions and assists with modifying problem behaviors.
- Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
- Provides case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care.
- Evaluates the need of the patient and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.
- Crisis intervention, as needed.
- Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the Hospital treatment programs.
