About the Position
The Crisis Specialist provides crisis assessment, intervention and stabilization services and referral to community resources for un-enrolled adults referred for a Next Day Appointment through Crisis Connections, DCR’s and ER’s. The Crisis Specialist meets all contract requirements as identified in the King County Adult Crisis Service contract. The Crisis Specialist also provides crisis response and assessments for the Adult Outpatient Program and conducts clinical intake assessments into agency services. This is a full-time, in person, benefited position; salary DOE.
Supervision
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
1. Master’s degree required in Behavioral Health
2. MHP status with a minimum of one year’s experience providing crisis services to acutely and chronically mentally ill adults.
3. Demonstrated DSM diagnosis and accurate assessment skills including mental status exams, lethality and level of functioning,
4. Demonstrated knowledge of psychotropic medications and ability to assess need for emergency medication.
5. Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
7. Current Washington State Driver’s License and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS and Navos Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state

- Provides crisis assessment and stabilization services to consumers referred by Crisis Connections or DCRs as Next Day Appointments
- Provides outreach and discharge services to consumers placed in County Hospital Diversion Beds at Transitional Resources.
- Coordinates referrals for emergency psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring.
- Coordinates referrals to appropriate resources in order to assist consumers in acquiring funding resources for ongoing clinical services.
- Provides crisis intervention and assessment services, including outreach for Adult Outpatient Program
- May carry small caseload based on department need
- Completes documentation and monthly reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Supports a system-wide understanding of trauma prevalence, impact and trauma informed care.
- Fosters healing, hopeful, honest and trusting relationships for consumers and employees; Value consumer voice, choice and self-advocacy.
- Demonstrates a commitment to cultural competence.
- Follows organization infection control policies and procedures. At risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Ensures team adheres to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPPAA requirements
- Familiarity with Washington Administrative Code regulations
- Provides all required annual documentation to Human Resources and completes all required Relias Learning training in a timely manner
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and other departmental meetings.
- Adheres to MHS and Navos Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure standards. Maintains reliable attendance
- Contributes to the success of the organization by meeting organizational competency expectations and core values, continuously learning, and by performing other duties as needed or assigned
