    License and Certification Qualifications: None required.

    Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

    Experience Qualifications: Three years in an office/clerical environment required. Bookkeeping experience preferred. Experience in a K-12 setting preferred.

    Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with others in an effective and professional manner; interpersonal skills and intercultural competence to work successfully with internal and external contacts; excellent skills in organization and time management; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and with limited supervision; professional-level oral and written communication skills; ability to work as an effective team member; ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; strong editing and proofreading skills; strong bookkeeping/accounting skills; ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) in a positive and professional manner; strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Lotus Notes; ability to learn new software packages; flexibility to adjust to meet deadlines; ability to detect and correct errors in standard English language usage; and excellent telephone and public relations skills. Bilingual skills in the most prevalent language other than English spoken in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) required.

    Primary Responsibilities: Assist in the organization, support, and coordination of all aspects of the International Newcomer Center (INC).

    1. Provide support and information to newly arrived parents/guardians of English Learners.
    a. Greet and assist the parents/guardians inquiring about the INC.
    b. Process and file correspondence to support the intake process.
    c. Maintain intake supplies, materials, and forms.
    d. Manage the intake calendar and schedule of appointments with efficiency and accuracy.

    2. Engage newly-arrived parents/guardians of English Learners in understanding and participating in the intake process.
    a. Educate parents/guardians regarding documentation requirements.
    b. Ensure that forms associated with the intake process are completed, submitted, and filed accurately, securely, and in a timely manner.

    3. Assist newcomer parents/guardians of English Learners with meeting their unique needs through referrals to appropriate individuals or services.

    4. Serve as the front line customer service contact for the INC.
    a. Demonstrate a positive relationship with local school staff, division, department, and all other district personnel.
    b. Communicate and collaborate with local school and district-level personnel in a courteous and efficient manner to assure that the needs of English Learner students are met.
    c. Communicate information concerning the INC to a variety of audiences, including parents and the community.
    d. Handle routine matters in a professional manner.

    5. Communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
    a. Communicate proficiently with parents/guardians, providing language services to non-English-speaking or limited-English-speaking parents/guardians of English Learner students
    in a language they can understand.
    b. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of oral and written communication skills in English and GCPS most prevalent second language.

    6. Support INC staff by being knowledgeable and proficient in navigating district processes and procedures.

    7. Manage concurrent tasks effectively and complete assignments by deadlines.

    8. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
