Job description
Oversee the work of at least 3-5 custodians as designated by a Custodial Area Manager. Perform minor repairs to equipment and fixtures. Complete a daily report to Area Manger or Supervisor on Man-hours available and work accomplished during shift. Handle difficult or unusual cleaning problems encountered by subordinate custodians in the absence of the Area Manager or Supervisor after contact the Central Office. Submit requests for and maintain adequate custodial supplies and equipment. Personally observe work methods and performance of subordinates to insure that department procedures/polices are being enforced. Confer with Custodial Manager/Supervisor about any abnormal work behavior of a custodian subordinate. Perform routine custodial task or maintain established cleanliness level in assigned work area. Provide unlocking and locking of building entrances. Perform periodic machine scrubbing or stripping and refinishing of floors. Perform spin pad or soil extraction of carpets.

High school plus two years custodial experience; equivalency considered. The ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary. Must be able to issue written instructions, prepare written reports and issue clear oral instructions required. Able to lead and work effectively with others necessary. The ability to understand cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios necessary. Must have ability to operate all types of custodial equipment and be able to lift 50 lbs required.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal training relating to Custodial operations desirable.
