As a Data Center Mechanic with Hines, you will monitor the operation, status and condition of all building equipment and systems by routinely reviewing operating conditions and established programs to understand and escalate, through proper procedure, any abnormal operating or physical conditions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Primary focus is on site inventory control with regards to all items data center related. Interaction with whitespace team and engineers to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.- Ability to support any shipping and receiving of equipment that supports the data center mission. Work with private shipping firms as well as FedEx, UPS and others and keep organized records where necessary.
- Monitor HVAC and related equipment in order to maintain established operating criteria within the guidelines set forth by the Manager or designee.
- Work towards Maintaining Electrical System operation logs and files to include, but not limited to: Electrical system Voltages, Amperages and Kilowatts, other equipment or operation inspection logs as set forth by the Manager or designee.
- Perform general monitoring of maintenance and condition of building components as they relate to the Data center, office and storage spaces, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Building components.
- Work towards learning skills in Electrical and HVAC distribution and controls in order to make certain systems are operating properly and efficiently. Adjustments and/or corrective actions to resolve issues must be Escalated, Requested and Tracked via proper protocols through to completion.
- Provide prompt and courteous response to Client requests within the guidelines set forth by Hines.
- Maintain ethical, professional and courteous relations with Client and Contractors.
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the entire operations staff and perform as a team member.
- Demonstrate full competency in all current Hines and property emergency procedures including but not limited to:
- Assist with directing Morgan Stanley occupants with evacuations
- Assist with life safety system alarms within MS spaces
- Assist emergency authorities and response teams
- Understand fire alarm and life safety systems at assigned property.
- Adhere to all Hines and property policies and procedures and perform all duties in a safe manner and help ensure compliance with city, state and federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards and regulations.
- Secondary goal is to be able to act as support to all aspects of current Engineering team.
- Ability to cover or respond to Manassas data Center as required by supervisor or client.
- Interaction with landlord in respectful and professional manner.
- Actively participate in required training activities and seminars.
Minimum Requirements include:
High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.- One or more years' experience with electrical or HVAC.

Successful completion of the Hines “Introduction to Engineering” training program upon 1st year of hire date.

Functional knowledge of the Engineering Assessment Guidelines and can demonstrate proficiency in the assigned area(s) of the Guidelines.

Computer skills including Excel, Word and basic computer knowledge.

Ability to learn and understand Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Architectural Plans and Drawings.

Read and use digital multi-meters, pressure and temperature indicating and recording devices, air flow measuring devices, and leak detection devices.

Knowledge of ARC Flash electrical safety procedures a plus.

Read and understand a variety of instructions, including equipment instruction manuals, furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

Understand correct usage of power tools as to the safe operation of said equipment.

Compute basic mathematical equations for equipment performance testing and building operations

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Possess sufficient computer skills to effectively administer required engineering programs.

Interact with employees, visitors and contractors with poise and diplomacy.

Maintain calm demeanor in emergency situations.

Understand and apply correct usage of all personal safety equipment.

When applicable, obtain required city and/or government licenses or permits (i.e. Boiler Operating Permit, State Maintenance Electrician’s License, EPA CFC Universal Certification Technician certificate, etc.)

White space / IT knowledge a plus.
