Decarbonization Senior Advisor

We are building a stellar team of consultants to build new business and advise companies in the maritime industry in navigating the transition towards more sustainable operations. The maritime industry is changing fast, with ambitious emission targets and requirements set by
IMO; EU; national authorities; industry organizations, ports - and not to mention pressure from stakeholders such as financial institutions, ports, charterers, and potential employees.
New technologies and fuels are coming into the market. In this dynamic landscape many ship owners are looking for answers - both on how to optimize their operations, as well as how to adapt to the changing business drivers. The VPS Decarbonization advisory team is in a unique position to provide such answers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidate must be goal oriented and driven with a can-do attitude. They must be a network builder as well as a team player. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Understanding the major drivers in the maritime industry and enjoys working in the intersection between the operational and strategic perspectives.
• Develops an innate curiosity and drive to understand regulations, technical innovations and industry needs in the ongoing transition and towards a low carbon future.
• Obtains elegant solutions to complex challenges and is driven by seeing results.
• Utilizes personal skills and experience to reduce emissions by providing tailored advice and help transform the maritime industry.
• Builds a network and communicates with strong interpersonal skills and thrives in conversations with industry executives.
• Work closely with clients in setting up and executing decarbonization projects and providing advice based on data analytics and market insight.
• Use network and market screenings to create business opportunities for advisory and data-driven services.
• Achieve tangible emission reductions for customers by successful execution of the projects and build strong relationships with clients’ strategic market communication on topics of maritime decarbonization.
• Utilizes Decarbonization portfolio to apply business development and creates opportunity for the company.
• Takes active part on the commercial team at the VPS office in Houston.
• Must be capable of travel as required up to 50%.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree or related experience or an equivalent education and experience combination.
• 7+ years of relevant experience from maritime industry and strategy processes, working in/closely with vessel owners and/or energy companies.
• Proven track record of using data and insight to drive change in organizations.
• Experience with consultancy or business development is a must, and background in ESG or Sustainability is a plus.
• Ability to be an independent producer and to work independently efficiently.

Pay: $88,929.00 - $109,440.00 per year
