Department Purpose
Located on the campus of one of the great research universities in the nation, the Mondavi Center is the premier performing arts venue in the Sacramento region. Each year, it presents speakers and artists from around the world and the nation, including leading musicians in classical music, jazz, world and roots music; modern dance, cirque and theater arts. The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis is one of the nation’s most dynamic and well-respected performing arts presenters. Holding approximately 60 performances and welcoming more than 60,000 attendees annually, MC is one of the largest University presenting programs in the United States. Each season the Mondavi Center brings to the UC Davis campus and the greater Sacramento region a program of touring artists, distinguished speakers, and resident ensembles ranging from the traditional to the innovative, within diverse cultures and disciplines. MC is committed to maintaining state-of-the-art performance facilities and to providing a world-class experience for artists, audiences and students of all ages. We support the University’s mission of teaching, research, service and outreach via cultural programming integrated with the campus’s outstanding academic tradition, a professional laboratory for performing arts students and lifelong arts education opportunities. The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is seeking an experienced fundraising professional who has excellent writing, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. A deep interest in the performing arts is a plus. The incumbent is expected to have a thorough understanding of fundraising best practices. The incumbent must know or quickly learn campus policies and procedures for planning, developing and implementing campaign strategies.
Job Summary
The Development Manager (DM) plays a vital role in the Development program of the Mondavi Center, the premier performing arts venue and presenter in the Sacramento Region. The DM directly cultivates and stewards the MC’s Directors Level Patrons ($1750-$7,499); works to identify new and upgraded Directors Level donors; and delivers prospects for major gifts to the Director of Development. Overall, the DM functions as a major connector between the membership and Development programs. This position reports to and provides major support for Director of Development while also liaising with the marketing department to maximize donor communications. The incumbent has excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, collaborative work style. Successful candidate will have an interest in the performing arts and will actively attend performances at the Center and related donor events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Work flexible schedule and occasional overtime including frequent evenings, weekends and holidays to meet operational needs.
- Provide own reliable transportation to visit local donors and caterers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Experience identifying, researching, cultivating, and stewarding individual donors.
- Experience designing and executing cultivation, stewardship and engagement events and programs.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Knowledge of the principles, trends and best practices in membership and fundraising.
- Effective donor research, evaluating market conditions and distilling statistical data to forecast drive success, develop fundraising action plans and implement relevant strategies and tactics.
- Interpersonal and communications skills appropriate to build and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and with a diverse group of donors, outside constituencies, and other units of the campus.
- Writing, editing and proofreading skills to produce information that is compelling and effective.
- Comfort with technology, ability to learn information systems, and ease of reporting critical data. Time management and prioritization skills to provide executive level support and excellent attention to detail.

- Knowledge of and strong interest in the performing arts. Critical thinking and analytical skills to recognize potential areas of constituency concern and address, resolve and/or mitigate problems or issues.
