Quality Truck Care Center of Fond du Lac is looking to fill our 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic Foreman position. We are a family owned company that has been since 1986. We are a Western Star Truck Dealer, Certified for Detroit, Cummins, Cat, and Allison; and also service many more!
Position Summary:
The Foreman of 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanics role is a "hands on" working foreman position. You will be repairing and maintaining diesel trucks as well as managing the work load. Responsibilities include, dispatching work to technicians, scheduling work with customers, assisting customers with repairs, questions and invoicing over phone and in person, guiding technicians during repair process, diagnosing and completing repairs, making repair orders and monitoring paperwork.
A mechanic who directs the service operation and personnel during periods of the Service Manager’s absence, or during second shift. Must be able to lead and supervise personnel. Spends 70% or more of work time on billable repairs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Answers telephone calls and pages for department.
2. Prioritizes and schedules service work.
3. Opens repair orders. Closes repair orders paid with cash (cash sales).
4. Coordinates and oversees technicians. Inspects all completed work. Possesses the skills and abilities of technicians in lower skill levels and assists them in completing repair assignments, as needed.
5. Ensures that technicians observe applicable policies and procedures for repairs.
6. Wears proper personal protective equipment to protect from injury.
7. Prepares estimates for repairs, with Service Manager’s approval.
8. Advises customer of necessary repairs.
9. Communicates status of repair work to customer.
10. Manages billable hours of technicians.
11. Works with little to no supervision.
12. Minimizes comebacks by conducting spot-checks of completed job for thoroughness and quality.
13. Investigates and resolves customer quality complaints.
14. Monitors technician performance and reports concerns to Service Manager.
15. Inspects pertinent repair orders for proper documentation and warranty procedures.
16. Attends monthly shop meetings.
Required Qualifications:
1. Supervisory experience or training.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with customers and subordinates.
3. Extensive knowledge of heavy/medium duty truck repair.
4. Organizational skills.
5. Valid Driver License CDL preferred
