The Opportunity
The Director of Information Literacy will provide leadership within the Content Creation and Support team in the development of the content of resources that teach information literacy, research, and library resource use skills as the foundation of SNHU's approach to information literacy instruction. This includes the creation, assessment, and maintenance of content in research guides, videos, interactives, and other media in assigned subject areas, and coordination with other OKMIS personnel to make that material available to learners. Overseeing a team of direct reports and staff, the Director manages the strategy and staffing of the library's representation in the University's development and upkeep of programs, courses, and other learning experiences across delivery models in assigned subject areas. They are, and deploy other, information literacy subject matter experts into these development processes as advocates for the embedding of information literacy principles and library content into courses.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads a team of direct reports and cross functional staff in the development, assessment, and maintenance of the content of modules, learning objects, videos, and tutorials to teach information literacy, research, and library resource use skills within assigned disciplines.
- Embeds with academic units across the University as assigned, develops subject expertise in the disciplines and associated resources of assigned areas.
- Provides subject matter expertise in information literacy, the research process, library use, and resource sourcing and leveling as an integrated member of product and program developments, existing program improvements, and other initiatives across the University.
- Works with other Content Creation and Support team members to develop the content of modules, learning objects, videos, and tutorials that teach crosscutting and foundational information literacy, research, and library resource use skills.
- Works with other members of the Content Creation and Support team to develop and apply a consistent pedagogical approach for information literacy content.
- Works with other members of the Content Creation and Support team to develop and implement consistent and authentic assessments of information literacy content effectiveness.
- Develops credentials such as non-credit bearing badges as part of SNHU's information literacy strategy
- Manages, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates staff who directly report to the Director of Information Literacy. Work with the Director of Research Support to deploy those staff cross functionally to Research Support Services and with other managers for support as capacity allows.
- Identifies and acts on opportunities to improve resources based on feedback, data, and other information OKMIS and SNHU-wide stakeholders; ensures proper escalation of high-priority, time sensitive, or critical feedback with appropriate SNHU stakeholders within assigned disciplines.
- Keeps up to date on the latest trends in information literacy and library and higher education instruction, brings newly identified opportunities to the OKMIS Leadership team for review.
- Participates in Library, University, and external professional committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a higher ed organization Library or learning resource and support team
- Master's degree in library science or a related field
- Experience leading diverse teams and teams with remote and dual-place members
- Experience developing and delivering information literacy instruction content
- Experience developing content in a knowledge management environment
- Experience working in cross-functional environments
- Experience gathering statistical data and distilling insights
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management experience
- Multimedia design experience
