Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinates and manages financial operations for the Community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring the proper implementation of sound internal controls; interfacing with the Executive Director and the Department Managers to effectively manage the budget and help identify financial areas which may need attention; identify and implement procedures which will enhance the fiscal operations of the Community; generation and maintenance of accurate financial statements and accounting records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
· Prepares and monitors all monthly billing and collection processes utilizing established policies, procedures and tracking systems
· Oversees cash controls including the depositing and posting of cash receipts and implementing and monitoring controls over petty cash
· Maintains daily cashbooks for operational accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliation. Cashbooks and bank reconciliation will be reviewed monthly by RCA and GCI Management Services, Inc.
· Monitors and oversees the processing of accounts payable.
· Ensures appropriate assignment of departmental expenses and supporting documentation is executed and maintained.
· Coordinates the payment of insurance, real estate taxes and related reporting requirements.
· Prepares and enters journal entries and maintain appropriate sub schedules for Balance Sheet accounts.
· Process the monthly financial statements.
· Prepare Management reports.
· Assists the Executive director, RCA and GCI Management services, Inc. in the preparation of a monthly operations and financial analysis package to be presented to the sponsor and the Board of directors.
· Maintains resident, vendor and financial accounting files.
· Prepare and submit monthly sales tax reports and payments.
· Assists in the preparation of the annual financial budget, annual audit schedules, tax reports, and any state required reports.
· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Business Office. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

Educational Requirements and Experience:
· Bachelors degree in Accounting with one-year experience as an Accountant, or
· Associates degree in Accounting with two to three years experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Language Ability:
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in the primary language of the residents.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
· Mathematical Skills:
o Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Cognitive Demands:
o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Computer Skills:
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet. Ability to use accounting and payroll software.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
· Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting.
· Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.
· Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual.
· Occasional exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable and irrational.
· Possible high stress levels in relation to working under deadlines and within budget constraints.
