The Congregation de Notre Dame is seeking a full-time Director of Finance and Administration at the administrative office in Fairfield, CT, located near the campus of Sacred Heart University. Summary:
The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for the execution of all operations of the Province Office, including management of financial operations as well as establishing and managing the systems and staff of the Province.
Responsibilities include accounting and financial reporting and the supervision of all accounting staff, as well as the management and performance of a wide range of business, finance, accounting, IT, human resource, and payroll functions. The Director manages the staff and workflow of the Province offices.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the Finance Office’s daily flow of operations, including supervising and directing the work of accounting support staff.
- Directly manages Finance Office functions for the Province including accounting and financial reporting, human resources, IT, religious’ medical insurance, service contracts, and vehicles.
- Oversees all insurances (i.e. liability, fiduciary, automotive, workers’ compensation), participation in government benefit programs, and grant eligibility report (i.e. NRRO).
- Manages various systems of recordkeeping/processing for sisters, including risk management database, social security/Medicare, income tax returns, and cemetery plots.
- Manages the reporting and payment of 1099 reporting for vendors, and W-2 reporting and all applicable taxes for Province employees. Coordinates the Financial Review with an external accounting firm
- Convenes committees that make recommendations to the Leadership Team for distributing funds for mission activities through grants and scholarships.
- Responds to inquiries/questions, etc. regarding financial matters from Sisters.
- Monitors the Province Medical Benefits Program for Sisters and lay employees.
- Oversees and manages Province office operations including coordinating with Leadership Team to assess appropriate Province staffing needs, and enhancing professional growth and development for the Province office staff.
- Partners with the Province Bursar on various duties including financial reporting and analysis, managing cash flow positions, managing the investment portfolio, budget planning, and finance advisory committee meetings.
- General office setting with a work schedule that occasionally includes evenings, weekends, and some overnight travel.
- Compatible with and supportive of the mission, vision, and values of the Congregation de Notre Dame, Blessed Sacrament Province.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and accounting software.
- A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting. An MBA degree and/or CPA certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in supervision, business management, finance, fund accounting, and payroll.
- Experience in leadership and management principles as they relate to religious congregations, financial and human resource management, and project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly adaptable team player who fosters teamwork and works cooperatively and effectively to plan, resolve problems, and make decisions, while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
- A positive leader who can influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the Province.
- Problem solver who can assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
- Strategic thinker, assessing options and actions based on trends and conditions in the environment and the mission and vision of the Province.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to see the big picture with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information through simple summaries and explanations that are easily understood by those with limited background in finance or accounting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
