Principle Duties and Responsibilities
This position supports the delivery and administrative activities for programs and courses offered through ANU’s current learning management system (LMS).
The Director of Instructional Technology is a subject matter expert in e-learning, instructional technologies, learning management systems and instructional technology support. This position coordinates University technology efforts to maintain and expand blended and online teaching and learning. This position provides mentoring, training, support and consultation to faculty, instructional staff, and administration in the implementation of online technologies. This position will serve as the primary system administrator for the University’s LMS.
The technologist designs training, develops online instructional techniques and technologies, supports processes and projects for the learning management and other instructional systems. The technologist also trains and advises faculty and staff to support institutional learning management and online objectives. The position will assist faculty and administrators in the development and delivery of online and web-enhanced courses and programs; provide expertise and guidance in a wide variety of instructional technologies and facilitate workshops.
- Assist in maintaining interaction of Learning Management System (LMS) and other distance education technology with campus information systems.
- Assist with the development and implementation of distance learning institutional policies, procedures and goals.
- Stay current in LMS functionality, features, and tools in order to provide support services to LMS users.
- Advise and assist faculty and staff in the use of learning technologies to enhance teaching and learning, and support new learning environments and new learning technologies.
- Provide consultation to faculty and staff in the application and the use of instructional technology tools in the delivery of instruction.
- Conduct short-term consultations with faculty and staff in the use of technology and evolving technologies in support of teaching, learning, technology, and related activities of the University community.
- Participate in and manage projects relating to the design and development of; e-learning technologies and applications, multimedia, and other online initiatives.
- Manage faculty and staff support projects, programs and initiatives as assigned.
- Promote a professional work environment dedicated to customer service and teamwork.
- Will oversee survey tool Watermark (formely EvaluationKit) for term surveys, bi-yearly surveys, etc.
- Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.
Education and Experience
o A Master’s degree from an accredited higher education institution
o A minimum of five years’ experience with online education delivery systems, preferably with Canvas
Teaching experience preferred, particularly with working adults
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $50,000.00 per year
