General Description:
The Document Reviewer/Editor will review, in a timely manner, all of CIDNY’s general professional documents. This includes publications such as board reports, press releases, journal articles, grant proposals, issue briefs, fact sheets, testimony, newsletter articles, advocacy alerts, an annual advocacy agenda, an annual organizational report, and other written documents deemed necessary for review. They will collaborate with all members of the management team and will report to the Executive Director of CIDNY, Dr. Sharon McLennon-Wier.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review all of CIDNY’s general professional documents.
- Proofread and edit all of CIDNY’s professional-related documents.
- Use standard grammar and word clarity to convey the writer’s points.
- Provide the necessary checks for visual presentations and written clarity of the prepared electronic documents.
- Ensure that all documents consist of the correct use of fonts, bolding, headings, color, etc.
- Work with the CIDNY’s staff to ensure the accuracy of the edited document.
- Assist the Executive Director of CIDNY with taking minutes at all CIDNY board and committee meetings. These meetings are recorded via Zoom for note-taking purposes.
- Report to all scheduled document-review sessions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality for both written and verbal formats of communication.
- Attend all assigned meetings including but not limited to general staff meetings and board committee meetings.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of CIDNY.
Qualifications:
- Detail oriented and proficient at multitasking.
- Computer literacy is necessary, specifically in MS Office Suite and Publisher.
- Cell phone and text pager knowledge is required.
- An advanced graduate degree in the discipline of English, Advance Writing, Literature, Theater, Fine Arts, Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field.
- Five (5) years or more of disability related experience.
- Experience with preparing and publishing documents.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Experience with collaborating effectively with a team.
- Position requires a strong commitment to CIDNY's mission.
Position Specifics:
- Location: CIDNY’s Manhattan Office; Remote when office is not open
- Part-time position; seven hours up to fourteen hours per week only
- Salary: $35 per hour
- Shift: (must be flexible) 9am till 5pm (Determined based on the need for document review)
- Days available Monday – Friday
- Benefits available: None
