At CLIMB, we specialize in supporting adults with vision impairments, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in our various Residential Programs. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Caregiver, you'll be a part of our dynamic team helping to enrich the lives of those we support. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for meeting the needs of the clients by providing person centered direct care and supervision, positive behavior support, engagement and instruction. The DSP is responsible for the safety of the clients and maintaining a living environment that is clean and pleasant. This role does include hygiene assistance and mobility assistance for residents, as well as cleaning/janitorial work for the facility.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Successful clearance of DOJ background checks
  • Satisfactorily pass pre-employment physical with lifting test, drug test, and negative TB test
  • Able to communicate well with clients and team
  • Good physical health and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and infection prevention/sanitation protocols
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing (preferred)
  • A minimum of one year experience working with intellectual disabilities (preferred)

* Please note- this positions fall under the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health order– requiring all workers who provide services or work in a licensed care facility to be fully vaccinated, including at least the 1st booster. Proof of vaccination for COVID 19 is required prior to the first day of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of program preparation functions to include but not limited to: data collection and analysis, training plans, staff meetings, house meetings, daily progress notes
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADL’s)
  • Provide instruction and assistance in independent living skills as defined in the IPP
  • Assist dispensing clients’ medications and record in the log
  • Prepare/assist with meals and snacks as indicated on schedule
  • Follow infection prevention/sanitation protocols
  • Change linens and towels, clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.…
  • Successfully complete all in-service training and courses required for the position within required timelines

Additional Requirements:

  • Require physical exertion including walking, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling and reaching or similar activities.
