The Role: Economics Director

The Team: The Models & Scenarios team is responsible for the development and maintenance of economic models, conducting scenario analysis, and deploying economic analytics to help our clients make better decisions. We work closely with our Insights and Analysis regional teams to support the forecasting process, as well as with other parts of S&P Global to inform economic and financial analyses. We also provide clients with bespoke analyses to help them quantify their strategic, political, and operational risks.

The Impact: Working with our U.S. team, this individual will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the U.S. macroeconomic model, ensuring the appropriate linkages across the Global Intelligence and Analytics modelling ecosystem.

What’s in it for you: The successful applicant will be part of a team of econometricians who are developing and implementing best practices around economic and financial forecasting within a commercial context. They will have the opportunity to work with our global macroeconomic experts to develop new analytical tools for our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of a team of fellow professionals to regularly update macroeconomic models, data and forecasts.
  • Contribute to the development of additional modules as required, linking the models to other forecasting tools used at S&P Global Market Intelligence or to other models used in-house by our customers.
  • Collaborate with other Senior Members of the Models & Scenarios team to enhance operational efficiency of the forecast process.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Master's degree in Economics (a Ph.D. would be a plus), with a background in at least two of the following areas: Macroeconomics, Financial Econometrics or Applied Econometrics.
  • Extensive proven experience in applied econometrics and advanced forecasting models and methodologies, along with proven competence in handling U.S. economic data.
  • Ability to program in EViews and knowledge of other analytic packages such as R, Stata or Python.
  • Experience developing scenarios
  • Excellent oral and writing skills and an interest in communicating advanced and technical economic ideas to a non-professional audience.
  • Willingness and ability to coach junior colleagues.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is approximately $125,000 to $150,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
