Job Description:
Provide full range of electrical design services for building projects for federal clients including but not limited to the following:
- Conduct preliminary feasibility studies to determine most cost effective/timely solutions for infrastructure and facility needs.
- Develop electrical engineering drawings and technical specifications for non-recurring maintenance, repair, renovation, addition, and new construction projects primarily for healthcare facilities.
- Develop models of power systems and perform detailed calculations, coordination studies, and arc flash hazard assessments.
- Create schematic diagrams such as one-lines and riser diagrams, control system wiring diagrams, and network connection diagrams.
- Perform detailed field data collection as required for renovation projects. Write technical specifications for building systems equipment.
- Responsible for quality and accuracy of deliverables as well as the work of design team members under his/her supervision.
- Provide direction, oversight, and training to junior engineers and designers.
- Perform design reviews including inter-disciplinary reviews, code compliance, and constructability.
- Conduct field investigations of issues to determine root causes and provide recommended solutions for resolving.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) and review contractor’s submittals. Field verify as-built drawings and update record files to correct deficiencies.
- Support construction and commissioning activities for building system projects.
- Review scopes of work for Architectural-Engineer (A-E) design projects and provide level of effort to produce a complete set of electrical design documents for building construction projects.
- Travel across the United States and overseas may be required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET or NAAB accredited school
- Minimum 5 years of experience on engineering design teams as electrical engineer
- Experience in preparing design drawings/plans, specifications, technical correspondence, and written reports
- Detailed understanding of three phase power systems and how they are applied in buildings which require high levels of reliability
- Fundamental knowledge of power system coordination techniques and arc flash assessments
- Experience with power system modeling software such as SKM and ETAP
- Detailed understanding of modern lighting systems
- Detailed understanding of modern networking and communications systems
- Detailed understanding of controls systems and their application in modern buildings for the purposes of managing energy consumption
- Detailed understanding of ancillary building systems such as fire alarm, access control, video surveillance, nurse call, and mass notification, etc.
- Proficient in drafting using AutoCAD
- Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively
- Ability to travel across the United States and overseas
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering License in any state within the US
- Experience working on electrical engineering design for healthcare facilities
- Experience working on US Department of Veterans Affairs or US Army Corp of Engineers projects
- Functional knowledge of Autodesk Revit & MicroStation
- LEEP AP BD+C Certification
- Lighting Certification (LC)
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
