Electronics Technician (Adelanto, CA)

The Electronics Technician performs vehicle measurements, operates custom test fixtures, repairs various types of equipment, prepares vehicles and articles for testing, compiles test data for reporting purposes. Electronics Technicians will report to the Electronics Department Supervisor.

Subsidiary type job duties:

  • Install and verify sensors and data acquisition as required for vehicle and component tests including accelerometers, potentiometers and pressure/force transducers
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, soldering iron and multi-meter
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, fabricate and repair instrumentation to ensure they function and measure properly
  • Utilize Data Acquisition System (DAS) and instrumentation to install required sensors and successfully collect required data as outlined in the test plan
  • Install and extract crash test dummies from test vehicles
  • Assist in performing ATD qualification, both test setup and execution
  • Use defined procedures to disassemble, inspect, verify, and reassemble anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs)
  • Provide technical support to team members
  • Maintain safe working practices and environment always considering the safety of yourself and other employees

Testing type job duties:

  • Interface with clients minimally, and in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Follow the Test and Documentation Order Form and Test Books to maintain integrity and testing accuracy. Prepare vehicles and equipment accordingly.
  • Understand and interpret Test Procedures and Test Books.
  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of the crash test.
  • Responsible for correctly downloading and transferring test data, when applicable.
  • Process data and other measurements in a timely manner as required
  • Verify data for accuracy to assure it is correct before it is sent for publication.
  • Properly organize and maintain data on department host computer.
  • Follow approved data storage, backup and security methods.
  • Report issues on Incident Reports clearly and accurately.
  • Input information to the Status Board.

Essential Job Functions and Requirements:

· Follow all company policies and procedures.

· Must be able to use various hand tools.

· Must be able to work from hand-written data sheets and memos.

· May require heavy lifting at times. Must be able to lift 40lbs.

· Must be able to sit for lengthy periods and use hands for various functions such as typing.

· Must be able to stand and crouch for instrumentation purposes.

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) year degree, four (4) year degree, or technical training preferred.
  • A combination of experience and/or education is acceptable.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.50 - $25.00 per hour
