POSITION SUMMARY

We are a client-centered, recovery-oriented behavioral health service delivery model.

Employment Specialists are members of a team who provide flexible, community-based services that are designed to promote the stability, recovery and community reintegration of formerly homeless individuals who have a mental illness and / or abuse substances. The Employment Specialist performs routine team duties, while integrating employment goals and services with the tasks of all team members. This staff member provides needed assistance through all phases of the employment service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

JOB DUTIES

  • Collaborate with client in the formulation of a plan and see what is needed for employment to sustain housing.
  • Provide outreach, case management, advocacy, and other needed services to clients in any environment including: the streets, shelters, prisons, hospitals, apartments, office, etc.
  • Provide individually tailored services to each client in the following areas: specifically employment (training and work opportunities), schooling, assistance in daily living, health, wellness self-management, relapse prevention, money management & entitlements, medication support, self help & empowerment, problem solving, family life & social relationships, and integrated treatment for substance abuse, and may others.
  • Maintain well written and computerized records, compile reports and complete other program documentation (e.g., , incident reports, on-call logs, letters, memos) whether in writing or in the HMIS system, AKAIMS system, or AHFC portal.
  • Organize and participate in social activities with clients in the community.
  • Coordinate and monitor referrals to community services and advocate client participation.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Assist clients to prepare for and find employment.
  • Provide employment information and technical assistance for other staff.
  • Develop & strengthen relationships with employers & employment support agencies.
  • Able to take an on call phone on rotation schedule
  • Transport clients to appointments as needed
  • Help with screenings of clients
  • Assist in making client charts
  • Meet billing productivity requirement
  • Provide pro-active follow-up home visits to ensure stability and further progress towards self-sufficiency
  • Case management support to promote recovery
  • Facilitate groups
  • Complete necessary forms for housing for all funders

REQUIRED ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Degree in Human Services or Vocation Rehabilitation OR experience of job qualificiations
  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion and sensitivity to persons with disabilities and other minority populations
  • Responsible, organized, efficient.
  • Career experience in social services, supported housing, or with persons with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and computer skills.
  • Minimum one year training and/or experience in job finding, employment counseling preferred, but not required.
  • High level of confidentiality and ability to work with different personalities on all different levels
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Suite and Outlook
  • Able to pass an extensive state and federal background check
  • Knowledge of HMIS systems preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of AKAIMS system preferred but not required
  • Negative TB test results
  • Valid AK drivers license with 5 years clean driving record
  • Excellent typing skills and knowledge of office equipment (fax machine, photocopier, etc.) use and maintenance
  • Able to do Soar (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery) training within 6 months of hire date if needed for this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

  • Anchorage, AK 99503: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

  • social service: 2 years (Preferred)
