Overview:

Are you interested in an exciting, all-encompassing, and multi-faceted Industrial Engineering opportunity working directly with all stages of nuclear submarine construction?

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking to fill an Industrial Engineering position within the Production Engineering group at the Quonset Point Facility.

The Industrial Engineering group collaborates with various disciplines across Electric Boat to determine and document build strategies through Construction Build Plans. The Industrial Engineering team is seeking engineers to support this effort by using EB Proprietary software and technologies to define Construction Build Plans. The individual will be responsible for developing build plans and implementing process improvements. This position requires working in a cross-functional team with the following but not limited to: engineering, operations and planning to support the development of Construction Build Plans. The individual will work to ensure the Construction Build Plans focus on safety, quality, schedule, and cost for complex assemblies across Electric Boat. The job responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:

  • Reducing waste from build sequence
  • Business case analysis
  • Performing root cause analysis
  • Applying lessons learned to build plans
  • Using EB Proprietary tools
  • Calculating span times
  • Defining build sequences
  • Supporting operations
  • Supporting automation and mechanized initiatives

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Engineering or related technical degree
  • Understanding of structural steel manufacturing processes, specifically welding processes
  • Able to interpret Technical Publications
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products is required

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of joint designs and the ability to read blueprints
  • Candidate should possess knowledge of structural fabrication, welding operations, mechanized welding, and automated processes
  • Experience in submarine manufacturing and production environments, particularly in areas of part fabrication, ship modular construction, and outfitting is strongly desired
  • Experience with Siemens TeamCenter NX and Visualization Mockup
