Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero) is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area that provides various services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.

Job Summary:

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a full-time engineering technician to work alongside our engineers to help develop and test solution to solve technical problems in R&D, manufacturing and inspection.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist in the fabrication and assembly of prototypes and production parts
  • Help to create build documentation and instruction of assemblies
  • Assist in developing shop capabilities
  • Assist the engineers as they create, modify & test products and processes
  • Assist the engineers/run testing
  • Help to create solutions to complex technical problems
  • Build and set up equipment
  • Utilize machining tools to modify and create parts
  • Analyze operations and offer suggestions for improvement.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Quick learner, hard-working with skilled hands
  • Technical hands-on capability with attention to detail. Including but not limited to: wiring, soldering, parts fabrication, assembly, and general shop work/maintenance
  • Read CAD drawings, engineering sketches communicate challenges to small engineering teams
  • Ability to collaborate and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations
  • Proficiency and experience with machining tools and operations
  • A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.
  • Ability to handle multiple assigned tasks
  • Self-motivated and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance
  • 2+ years of experience
  • US Citizen
  • High school diploma.
  • A valid driver's license.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology
  • Experience in Composites
  • Experience with aircraft avionics
  • Certifications in IPC and J-STD
  • Experience assembling complex UAS
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical Writing: Build guides, schematics, wiring diagrams, reporting/reviewing, etc...
  • Experience with parts and inventory management
  • 5+ years of experience
