About this Opportunity
Ball State University Information Technology is seeking an Enterprise Systems Cloud Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and deployment of cost effective, cloud-based, enterprise level systems and solutions for the university. You’ll take on a primary administrator role in various cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP, and will assist in building and maintaining the necessary IT infrastructure to facilitate the university’s cloud-based initiatives. You will be actively engaged in the onboarding and implementation of new cloud-based services, and will evaluate and streamline existing solutions to reduce both cost and complexity. Position Function
Provide technical and systems expertise required to build and maintain on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid enterprise multi-user environments; evaluate and integrate new cloud services with existing enterprise systems; ensure high reliability and availability of locally and remotely hosted enterprise systems; facilitate the utilization of information technology security controls; provide management and participation in technology infrastructure improvement projects.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by the date of appointment.
Or, in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree: an Associate’s degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to two years.
Or, a high school diploma or GED plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to four years.
Minimum Experience
Three or more years of experience in a technical support capacity supporting enterprise cloud and /or local IT environments.
Minimum Other
Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of individuals; must pass relevant related background/records checks; must have good writing skills; must be willing to assure the continuity of enterprise systems and be available to provide support assistance on a 24 hour-a-day, 365 day-a-year basis.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Advanced training with enterprise cloud service providers.
Preferred Experience
Experience with enterprise cloud technologies such as but not limited to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with an emphasis on IaaS/PaaS/SaaS. Experience with cloud-based automation, orchestration, and deployment tools.
Preferred Other
Knowledge of standard policies, practices, and procedures for IT services, especially in an academic/higher education environment.
