INTERVIEW AND HIRE POSITION

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work:
This is entry level professional environmental work in the Office of Environment, Safety & Risk Management (OESRM). It will assist in developing and implementing environmental compliance programs which ensure the agency’s facilities are managed in accordance with federal and State environmental regulations. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Assist with facility inspections, audits, the collections and evaluation of scientific data, development and implementation of environmental compliance programs;
  • Assisting with program evaluation and efficiency, and advertisement of programs and policies;

  • Performs quality assurance and quality control of data uploads to MDTA web-based recording keeping database, Enterprise Environmental Management System (EEIMS), and corrects any data gap and/or errors in upload, and maintains EEIMS user rights and access;

  • Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates for environmental services, engineering and other projects;

  • Assists higher level Environmental Analysts and Environmental Manager to plan, organize and execute environmental events and initiatives (e.g., Earth Day fair, employee field trips, training events, etc.);

  • Learns to process invoices for payment; including evaluating invoice for accuracy, ensuring appropriate documentation has been received, and timely data entry of invoice for payment; and

  • Learns to monitor federal, state and local environmental regulations, technology, industry trends and initiatives and determine their applicability to MDTA operations.

Employees in this classification will receive direct supervision from the Environmental Manager. Work is performed in an office setting and in the field; work may involve physical inspection of previous, existing, or proposed transportation facilities or job sites.

The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, MD. Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in natural sciences, earth science, physical science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, biology, agronomy, forestry, horticulture or related sciences, geography, environmental planning, civil engineering, sociology, economics, planning, anthropology, architectural history or related fields such as ecology, landscape architecture, or environmental engineering.
