Job Scope and Background:
The Middle TN Service Trainer will report to the General Product Support Manager with a dotted line to the VP Product Support. The role will primarily include the development, administration, and delivery of technical training to apprentice technicians as part of an overall effort to grow our technician base
Basic Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Deliver apprenticeship training at our branch in Tennessee
- Work with other apprentice trainer and corporate service trainer to review and keep the existing curriculum current and applicable.
- Regularly assess progress of apprentices in the program with written and performance evaluations. Maintain all associated records of training delivered and apprentice progress.
- Work with the Maintenance Pro GM and the Corporate Service Trainer to develop and maintain an apprenticeship curriculum for PM Technicians.
- Communicate with the appropriate branch service managers with information as it pertains to the development of the apprentice technicians.
- Establish necessary contacts with manufacturers and become thoroughly familiar with their current training offerings and training operations.
- Work in tandem with our technical recruiter to further enhance and maintain our relationship with regional technical schools (such as Lincoln Tech and TCATs) for the purpose of recruitment of new apprentice technicians.
- Attend Train-the-Trainer offerings from the manufacturers that the client represents necessary to remain current with technical material.
- Function as a technical resource for service personnel
Desired Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, College degree preferred.
- Must have 5 or more years experience in the service aspect of the heavy equipment industry, training experience preferred.
- Position will require some occasional travel to our branches, local tech schools, and manufacturers locations
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Capable of making presentations such that technicians can easily comprehend and understand.
- Proficient with a computer for administrative use and the development of training course material including Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use using manufacturer provided programs.
- Capable of working with limited supervision / self-starter.
- Must be capable of dealing with the various personalities and skill set levels of technicians.
- Good time management skills.
- Must be goal-oriented and capable of generating and executing a plan in concert with company objectives.
- Must be a team player, comfortable in a group setting.
- Must successfully pass a background check, employment physical and drug screen.
