The Director of the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center will provide direction and leadership over the daytoday operations of the ADRC. The director supervises the center staff, ensuring the needs of students with disability are the center's primary focus. The director will review and align center operations, policies, outreach, and engagement to the larger OU Lead On strategic plan and ensure federal Americans with Disability Act (ADA), sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other appropriate state and federal laws and statues pertaining to higher education and disability are followed. The center director working in partnership with the entire OU community, will work to increase access and decrease barriers to success for students, faculty, and staff. The director of the ADRC will serve as a DEI Division leadership team member. This role will report directly to the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer and his/her/their designee. This center works closely with Human Resources, Legal Counsel, the Provost Offices, the Policies Office, the Office of Compliance, and the Offices of DEI across the three OU campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides the management and supervision of all employees and activities in the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), including hiring, training, and performance.
  • Consults with OU faculty, staff, and students regarding accessibility to OU academic programs and activities.
  • Leads, supports and directs the professional activities of staff engaged in Institutional support and the coordination of reasonable accommodations.
  • Directs and maintains effective use of resources to ensure accommodations, programs, and services are available to students with disabilities; manages overall annual expenditures and recommends changes.
  • Assists in securing new funds to support students with disabilities through grants, private donations, and other external funds.
  • Confers with and advises faculty, staff, students, and others on reasonable accommodations and consults on complicated situations, providing technical advice, problemsolving, and recommendations for modifications/accommodations.
  • Communicates effectively and persuasively the departmental missions, visions, and goals to diverse campus and community audiences and prepares informational materials for faculty and other constituencies.
  • Interprets and implements University, state, and federal laws, rules, and policies necessary to ensure reasonable accommodations and academic integrity.
  • Assures the collection and maintenance of appropriate data to support service delivery; prepares periodic reports and program assessments, progress, etc.
  • In collaboration with the ADRC team, evaluates the effectiveness of processes, communication tools, outreach and engagement activities, etc., to develop and implement improved methods of service delivery and faculty/staff support on all OU campuses.
  • Serve on divisional and University committees, task forces, and working groups involved in addressing disabilityrelated issues, campus workforce, and future workforce opportunities.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates, and approves professional development activities for team members.
  • Stays abreast of national, slate, and local disabilityrelated issues; maintains membership in relevant professional organizations:
  • Participates in professional development activities through presentations, publications, and attendance at conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements


Required Education:
Master's degree in related field, AND:

  • 36 months direct service to individuals with disabilities.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the ADA section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and other appropriate state and federal laws pertaining to higher education disability.
  • Experience in engagement with advocacybased and grassroots organizations that serve Higher Education and communities with disabilities or an associated field.
  • Knowledge of operating within a university culture and setting.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, Microsoft Office, Canvas, and other related software programs/modalities.
  • Strong process improvement skills/experience.
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative and respectful manner.
  • Ability to multitask and deal with complexity on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to complete projects on time.
  • Work in a fastpaced environment.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for prolonged periods. Ability to engage in repetitive motion.
  • Standard office environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
