About Greenwich House:
Position Summary
Faculty at Greenwich House Pottery teach ceramic-based studio courses in wheel throwing, hand building, technical or historical areas and administer to all preparatory phases of their development.
Qualifications
- BFA in ceramics or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching.
- Knowledge of community based arts education programs.
- Must be an artist/practitioner within the field of ceramics.
- Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interface with a diverse student body, and all levels of Greenwich House Pottery’s staff.
- Knowledgeable in all ceramic processes and techniques: wheel throwing, hand building, glaze formulation, kiln firing information, etc.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- A self-starter with strong organization skills.
Essential Functions Statement
- Provide comprehensive instruction and demonstrate techniques of assigned course. Be knowledgeable in all ceramic processes and techniques, from wheel throwing, to hand building, to glaze formulation, to kiln firing information, etc.
- Prepare course curriculum, syllabus and annual course descriptions.
- Develop group projects, schedule class trips, present slide lectures as needed.
- Offer individual instruction on a need basis.
- Review GHP studio policies and guidelines with class and ensure proper classroom behavior.
- Coordinate special activities such as kiln firings with Studio Manager and monthly class gallery visits with Gallery and Residency Manager or Gallery Preparator.
- Oversee clean-up of classes.
- Communicate relevant problems, issues, suggestions to the Director/Education and Events Manager.
- Attend annual faculty meetings.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Director.

We will consider exceptions for religious and medical reasons, where appropriate. “Fully vaccinated” means you must have both doses of a 2-dose vaccine and two weeks have elapsed since the second dose, or have received 1 dose of a 1-dose vaccine and two weeks have elapsed since the dose. Proof of vaccination status must be submitted prior to your start date and includes CDC Vaccine Card, NYS Excelsior Pass, NYC Vaccination Record, and other official Vaccine Record.
