Job description
Provide the full scope of primary care services that fall under his/her field of training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care, and health maintenance. As a member of the RCBC team, be familiar with the goals and objectives of the clinic and work collaboratively to achieve them. Be cognizant of, and comply with, all clinic policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.
This position works primarily in Rupert, WV, but may also see patients in Lewisburg, WV.
Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Capable of independent advanced practice nursing assessment decisions in a primary care setting. Ability to obtain prescriptive authority with the West Virginia Board of Nursing.
Experience:
Experience within a primary health care environment preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Certification by the West Virginia Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Current DEA, when required. Must be able to meet and maintain credentialing, privileging, and malpractice insurability requirements. Current CPR or BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, if appropriate. Maintain an active collaborative agreement with an appropriate RCBC physician when required by the West Virginia Board of Nursing.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer
Job Requirements:
- Examine patients and establish medical diagnoses by client history, physical exam, and other criteria
- Order, perform, and interpret lab, radiographic, and other diagnostic tests
- Identify, develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care
- Prescribe medication in accordance with West Virginia statute and professional practice guidelines; when a written collaborative agreement is in place, follow mutually agreed upon written guidelines or protocols for prescriptive authority as it applies to the APRN’s clinical practice; follow the individual and shared responsibilities of the APRN and collaborating physician as outlined in the collaborative agreement; set periodic and joint evaluation of prescriptive practice and joint review and updating of the written guidelines or protocols as noted in the WV Code for APRN prescribing
- Perform minor surgical procedures (upon obtaining appropriate training and receiving clinical privileges)
- Arrange referral for patients requiring services not offered at RCBC
- Participate in quality assurance, medical staff, and other clinical meetings
- In conjunction with clinic physicians and other mid-level providers, participate in developing, executing, and periodically reviewing the clinic policies and services provided to patients
- Maintain medical records and insure they are completely and accurately documented in a timely manner
- Complete RCBC-required annual training through careLearning.com
- Cooperate and comply with RCBC’s corporate compliance program
- Other duties as assigned
