The Financial Services Analyst is a key member of the finance team tasked with the duties of processing all purchasing, accounts payable, and check request activities for the Osher Center. This includes reimbursement requests, travel and entertainment requests, invoice processing, and P-card purchasing. This position is responsible for ensuring the charges are in the correct forms and in compliance to all policies and procedures set forth for each type of transaction. The incumbent is required to independently manage the flow of the requests to ensure all are processed in a timely manner and meeting the deadlines.

This position will reconcile the general ledgers monthly for the Osher center which includes reviewing and verifying the transactions loaded on the General Ledger Verification Tool. The Financial Services Analyst will have a good understanding of cost accounting standards guidelines.

This incumbent is also tasked with the responsibility and ownership of submitting the salary cost transfer requests for the Osher Center. This includes attending UCPath office hours to keep the finance team posted with any enhancement and policy changes, reviewing the worklist in UCPath daily to notify the Financial Analyst III or the Finance Manager if there are any necessary actions needed to take, and reconcile the Distribution Payroll Expense reports to ensure the salary cost transfers are posted on the general ledger correctly.

The Financial Services Analyst is in charge of the public education class payment collection. This includes collecting check and credit card payments, printing receipts, entering data into ProClass, and processing credit card journals in PeopleSoft.

The incumbent will be in charge of implementing any new systems related to accounts payable functions for the Osher Center. Other duties include providing financial administrative support to the Finance Manager and the Chief Administrative Officer.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • One year experience with University procurement systems, purchasing, and/or accounts payable
  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
  • Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in the PC operating environment and intermediate Excel skills
