Salary: $40,000 minimum, based on qualifications and experience

Accounting & Business Services performs general accounting duties following generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, provides internal and external billing support to campus, prepares financial reports and assists with budgeting. The department ensures the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit's financial transactions while providing customer service to all.

JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary
This position performs internal and external billing functions, coordinates the centralization of billing information with campus departments, and assists with the monitoring of university-wide accounts, policies, and procedures related to business operations across the university.
This position will provide support in the centralization of revenue producing activities including internal and external customer accounts, rate setting, billing, and other financial management processes. Assistance will be provided in performing billing and accounting functions including, but not limited to, chart of account maintenance, and establishing streamlined billing processes for the university. The financial specialist position will also participate in special projects as assigned by the Financial Manager, and Business Services Accountant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in accounting or related business field or 1-3 years’ experience in an accounting or business office environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in higher education
- Ability to multi-task
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and pay strong attention to detail
- Experience with interactive database systems
- Knowledge of UW-System policies and procedures

Terms of Employment
This is fixed-term, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act, annual Academic Staff position. Acceptance of this position does not guarantee ongoing employment beyond the contract period, however the employee will be considered for any future contracts per budget and project need. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.
