At We Love Philly, we work hard to provide an ownership-based education to Philadelphia teens who have been left behind by mainstream institutions.

We’re a grassroots nonprofit started by certified PA educators that believe strengthening community ties is the way to close the achievement gap in Philadelphia.

In class, students journal, learn mindfulness, and explore crucial life skills such as financial literacy and home ownership. In the community, students volunteer for causes that they deem crucial and worthwhile to them. When meeting with local business owners and entrepreneurs, they conduct interviews where they learn from prominent members of our communities. Afterwards, using what they have learned, they create podcasts and other social media content to spread the word–all the while learning video and audio production skills. The last stage of our program focuses on brand creation, so students can begin paving their own paths to success.

• 90% High School Graduation Rate
• Paid our youth over $50,000 in student wages
• State Certified Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Program
• Created an educational model that has been highlighted at national education conferences .

Job Summary

We are looking for a full time passionate, experienced individual to join our Executive Leadership tribe as a Founding Educator. Our Founding Educator will be primarily responsible for the co-creation and actualization of curriculum. The Founding Educator will work closely with students, community stakeholders, and our Executive Director to deliver educational programming linked to both community service and digital media & marketing. The Founding Educator should feel comfortable collaborating with our Executive Director regarding the organization’s partnerships and projects. Our ideal candidate is someone who will enthusiastically help our organization grow and succeed in a fast paced, ever changing environment, in order to better serve our students and the community. The position hours are flexible and We Love Philly is open to negotiate a hybrid workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Passionate about educating within the City Of Philadelphia
• Willing to communicate boundaries and be “all-in” with our youth during the educational process
• Willing to collaborate with community partners in order to actualize a real time, real world education
• Able to engage in an alternative approach to teaching and learning
• Willing to work with our Executive Director to co-create systems for future educators
• Willing to share responsibility with other We Love Philly Employees in order to actualize our mission
• Willing to be flexible with hours and adapt to a startup environment

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Adobe Credentialing required
• Willing to work 40 hours a week
• Hubspot experience preferred
• Workforce development experience preferred
• Able to pass a background check and fbi clearance
• Exceptional research skills
• Creative, self-starter attitude
• Organized and inspiring team leader
• Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships
• Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills

Salary Range- $50,000- $65,000 (Benefits Eligible)
