KCH Program Coordinator – Working with 10-13 yr olds Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County, Inc. Newport, RI 02840

Position Type: full time Range 33,000 – 37,500 with benefits Reporting to the Director of KCH the KCH Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

• Supporting program oversight and planning for youth ages 10+ in the KCH program at the Central Clubhouse
• Engaging with and supporting the transition of youth from KCH to our teen program services * Oversight and marketing, recruitment and facilitation of programs
• Work with multiple partners on BGC and community initiatives Job Requirements
• Associates Degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of or the ability to obtain knowledge of the Newport Community (including community agency programs/services).
• Demonstrated ability to work with youth from a culturally diverse population and a sensitivity to that population.
• Must be proficient with computer technology – e.g. Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, and the ability to keep accurate data for reporting purposes and to work independently/self-starter.
• CPR/First Aid certified
• Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required.
• All staff are expected to assist with our major fundraising events
• All staff have responsibilities to help fundraise
• Staff must be flexible as our schedules change to serve our members – evening and weekends are expected during the school year Job responsibilities
• In collaboration with program staff, oversee programs and supervise middle school aged youth at the Central Clubhouse
• Manage team to create and implement programs that target the Boys & Girls Club’s primary outcomes (Healthy Lifestyles, Character & Leadership and Academic Success)
• Manage behaviors within assigned pod by utilizing restorative practices, reinforcement and discipline when necessary
• Create an emotionally safe environment for all members
• Create a strong sense of belonging in the club through recognition and community-building efforts
• Provide support in maintaining accurate member files, data entry, and other reporting for members.
• Participate in strategic planning to improve the quality of services, recruit and retain participants and generate revenue.
• Intentionally outreach to socio-economically diverse youth to become the place of choice for all children and youth
• identify and respond to the mental and behavioral health needs of youth, with a focus on prevention through direct service and community collaboration
• Provide assistance in the preparation, recruitment, training and operations for all campers ages 10+
• As per request, participate on committees/workgroups when requested. Terms of Employment: Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Sitting, standing, active up and down within area. Terms of Employment: The position is full time 40 hours per week in programming. Afterschool/evening hours during the school year and morning/afternoon during the summer season. ___________________________________________________________________________________
