Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. Job Description

General Foreman of Planning and Reliability will ensure the development of maintenance strategies through the Reliability Management processes, being responsible for the Planning and Reliability Engineering areas. They will be responsible together with their subordinates to prepare and review the operating and capital budget for maintenance, life control of mine equipment, replacement, and disposal of assets.
General Foreman of Planning and Reliability must develop, together with the supply chain team, the best inventory management strategies to support the equipment and its maintenance plans, which include: Inventory optimization, Critical spare parts, Refurbishment process, Warranty Management.
Reporting to this position will be the Planning, NDT, Reliability Engineering and Training departments. This role presents the opportunity to make a strategic contribution to the development of maintenance. The high-level strategic element of this role means you will gain exposure to senior management and challenging planning and reliability activities in coordination with mine planning engineers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Train and develop your team in Health, safety, and Environment Aspects.
  • Develop your team to solve problems through sustainable practices aimed to optimizing resources and seeking better efficiency.
  • Create and maintain a culture of ownership within your team and encourage other departments in the same direction.
  • Ensure work order management and maintenance tracking is up to date and accurate.
  • Ensure historical records accuracy of all PCR and executed jobs.
  • Responsible for the integrity of Master Data in JDE, including but not limited to: equipment hierarchy, Standard Jobs, PM’s, EPL’s, APL’s, etc.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance and mine planning team on mine life strategies. Ensure that equipment outages are scheduled in accordance with and aligned to the mine plan.
  • Lead the preparation, maintenance and update critical job plans for major maintenance turnarounds.
  • Create and maintain the annual maintenance schedule and budgeting through a CMMS software program, to include monthly and quarterly cost and equipment forecasts.
  • Department responsible for the creation and monitoring of the maintenance budget in Xeras
  • Participate in the review of the annual Operations Mine Plan and provide feedback to the Mine Planning group.
  • Communicate with the Supply Chain and vendors to support all maintenance projects.
  • Communicate with Supply chain to ensure proper parts stocking levels and parts required dates are met.
  • Working with both SC and vendors, ensure that both equipment and parts warranty work is claimed, tracked and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Identify concerns and potential issues and present them to management at an early stage.
  • Ensure the preventive and condition monitoring programs are regularly updated to reflect maintenance requirements
  • Collect and manage compliance and noncompliance matrix to ensure departmental and cooperate KPI’s data is accurate.
  • Review data from Reliability, maintenance, operations and OEM health monitoring reports to ensure proactive planning.
  • Ensure that reliability analysis are actively used for the enhancement and optimization of equipment strategies
  • Provide guidance to the planner and Reliability group to ensure that the Work Management and Reliability processes are followed as per Kinross Way for Maintenance
  • Guide team to ensure work and reliability management processes are followed in accordance with the Kinross Way for Maintenance.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of related industry experience in planning and supervision preferred.
  • Must understand mobile maintenance financial hierarchy and reporting, experience with Xeras and the JD Edwards planning software is preferred.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Machine Health monitoring systems (Matrikon/Honeywell, Minstar or OEM)
  • Collection and Interpretation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Skills

  • General knowledge of mining and the integration of the mining, milling, and maintenance functions
  • Good understanding of gold metallurgy
  • Good working knowledge and skills with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Detailed knowledge of established mining methods and operating practices

  • Provides work direction to the operations team
  • Typically reports into the Mine / Mill / Maintenance Manager
