Primary responsibility for the Flooring Tech I team members is to assist with flooring installation, demolition and repairs primarily during COM (Change of Occupancy Maintenance) and may perform repairs, cleaning or installations either at COM or as resident service requests. They may install carpet, carpet tiles, VCT, LVT, vinyl, linoleum or other flooring materials.
Responsibilities
- Install carpet, carpet tiles, VCT, LVT, vinyl, linoleum or other flooring materials.
- Remove floor tile, sheet vinyl, ceramic floor tile and plywood. Remove damaged flooring and baseboards, quarter round as needed.
- Transport, install and connect stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers and other electrical and gas appliances to prepare flooring job.
- Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper location by hand trucks or dolly; stack flooring materials for storage; collect refuse and salvageable materials.
- Transport equipment and materials to job sites.
- Operate power blowers or use brooms to clean work-site for clean-up.
- Respond to and complete urgent repairs when necessary.
- Update work order status including time, materials and notes on mobile devices provided in an accurate and timely manner. Complete and submit all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Keep supervisor well-informed of activities, results of efforts, problems identified/potential problems, etc.; recommend corrective actions to supervisor.
- Maintain vehicle and vehicle inventory as prescribed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Less than 1 year related working experience
- Current vehicle license in good standing
- Basic familiarity with computers. Navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
- Read, and write in English in order to understand basic instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with clients, visitors and other organization staff; and respond to basic questions.
- Must demonstrate basic competency in carpentry and flooring installation
