A Geotechnical Engineering Technician is responsible for inspecting construction activities and testing soil, concrete, and other construction materials. Provide daily inspection of ongoing construction for compliance with contract plans, specifications, and approved shop drawings.

Job Duties

  • Document material usage and site conditions.
  • Conduct and document routine soils and concrete testing.
  • Perform field inspections as it relates to logging of borings and test pits, earthwork, shallow foundations, ground improvement and deep foundations (i.e., augercast piles, driven piles or drilled shafts)
  • Assist geotechnical engineers in completing subsurface investigation activities such as soil borings and test pits, field permeability/percolation tests, and other supporting tasks.
  • Pick up and drop off samples to the laboratory.
  • Perform Soil Lab Tests such as sieves, hydrometers, and proctors.

Qualifications:

  • 0-4 years experience as Field Technician or equivalent.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or similar field preferred.
  • Must have a vehicle and valid driving license.
  • OSHA 40, OSHA 10, American Portable Nuclear Gauge Association gauge training, America Concrete Institute (ACI), and/or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) is preferred.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work Environment:

  • This job will require travel within the greater New York City Area, including but not limited to New Jersey, Connecticut, New York (including, Westchester NY, all five boroughs and Long Island). Travel time and mileage is a reimbursable.
  • The employee is expected to perform the majority of their time outdoors. Outdoor work will frequently include walking on uneven surfaces, exposure to all weather conditions, and exposure to animals, insects, and plants.
  • CSA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses
  • The employee will frequently be required to lift/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing duties the employee is occasionally required to stand for long durations, walk, climb, kneel, crawl.
  • Hours are Monday through Friday with overtime, occasional night, and weekend work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour
