Job description
The Glassware Technician will maintain, clean and sterilize glassware in a laboratory setting. Prepare media, buffers, reagents and stock solutions for Laboratory Technicians and perform tests under direct supervision.
- Prepare/wash glassware
- Receipt of consumables and lab stocking
- Clean and maintain lab spaces and other duties as assigned.
- Preparing and sanitizing racks
- Operating high pressure hot water washer
- Work with a variety of chemicals for sanitation of lab equipment
- Assessing racks thoroughly during sanitation process for any maintenance required
- Washing glassware, feeders, etc. as required
- Inspect items after removal from washer/dryer.
- Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could affect laboratory results.
- On a daily basis, collect laboratory materials (i.e., pipettes, jars, dishes and other glassware) from each area of the Laboratory.
- Maintain inventory of solutions and powders necessary to perform work.
- Notify laboratory administration of malfunctioning equipment, broken and chipped items.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area. Sort and deliver material to appropriate lab.
- Use pH meter, balances, autoclaves, and other microbiological equipment to prepare media and broths.
- Weigh and measure in-process materials to ensure proper quantities are added/removed

- Clarity of vision at both over 20 feet and under 20 inches
- Able to judge depth, have a good field of vision, and identify and distinguish colors
