Job Description


The Graduate Administrative Intern reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Summer Intern will work closely with the System Engineers in the throughput and capacity department supporting efforts to reduce patient wait times in the hospital and optimal use of capacity. Additionally, the student will lead analysis applying the fields of operations, design thinking and/or finance and will learn healthcare processes through shadowing/interviews of clinical and non-clinical leaders and working in the Electronic Medical Records system.

The Graduate Intern maintains all duties including but not limited to the following:

  • Completion of assigned intern project, submission of final project presentation and completion of program evaluation.
  • Participation in Graduate Internship program activities including: shadowing, senior executive lunches, management meetings and orientation sessions.
  • Final presentation to senior leadership and project team.
  • Completion of tasks and duties as assigned by NMH Director for completion of Intern project.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Graduate Interns must be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Curious problem solver with positive and curious attitude
  • Proficient in data gathering via secondary and primary source research methods
  • Ability to manage a small-mid size project from planning to delivery
  • Flexible/Adaptable - ability to work with a diverse group of healthcare professionals

Preferred:

  • Master in Engineering Management or similar is preferred for graduate student applicants
  • Proficient in computer analysis software preferred (Minitab, Excel, R-studio)
