Position Overview
The Graphic Designer works to promote, preserve, and enhance the academic and research activities of the School through developing and delivering effective visual content. Reporting to the Dean through the Communications Director, this position will provide support through creatively designed content for print and digital delivery, design consultation services to faculty and staff, documentation of School activities and projects, and maintaining the School’s website.
Job Description
35% Design production services
- Create, design, and edit digital assets to promote School initiatives and activities for use in various media platforms, including social media, websites, digital newsletters, and other electronic media.
- Create, design, and manage the production of digital and print publications that document and/or promote the academic and research activities of the School.
- Create, design, and manage the production of internally and externally facing print collateral, including brochures, flyers, postcards, posters, and other marketing collateral.
- Coordinate with external vendors to produce collateral materials.
- Ensure content accuracy and timelines are met by working collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Provide effective design and technical consultation so that projects meet stakeholder expectations, uphold School strategic priorities, and conform to University brand standards.
- Work with administration, faculty, and staff to develop effective web pages
- Create web experiences with an understanding of audience
- Work within the University’s Drupal Content Management System
- Be the point of contact for technical and content edits on the website
- Monitor site to ensure functionality and informational clarity
- Develop, utilize, and maintain digital asset management systems
- Develop and work within standardized taxonomy structures
- Develop efficient and repeatable processes that integrate documentation, design production, and asset management
- Establish protocols for submitting new material and updates/corrections
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, or related field by time of start date.
- One (1) year of related experience.
- Excellent communication skills as evidenced by application materials and interview
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in photographic and video capture and editing
- Social media experience in a professional environment
- Experience in graphic design software, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign
- Experience in using web CMS systems, such as Drupal and WordPress
- Strong design skills as evidenced by portfolio
- Experience working in digital and print
