Scripps, a leader in the industry, is an integrated health system in San Diego, CA, that is committed to providing the highest quality care. We are currently looking for a Health Care Team Assistant to join our team!

Qualified individuals will collaborate with other Health Care Team members to assure optimal patient care under the guidance of the Clinical Partner-RN. The Health Care Team Assistant provides and maintains a clean, safe and attractive environment for patients through efficient transporting of patients ordering supplies as needed, assisting patients with comfort measures, and completing regulatory or mandatory programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (others may be assigned)

  • Participates in the interventions/implementation of patient care, providing personal care to the patient as a part of the care team.
  • Leads Operating Room turn over in accordance with infection control standards
  • Takes out trash/recycling/linens in support of the care team and maintains cleanliness of the facility.
  • Assists patients with ambulating, transferring, repositioning, and basic ROM.
  • Organizes procedural equipment and supplies and assists with procedures as per the scope of practice.
  • Sets up and uses patient care equipment such as K-pad, slide board, bed check, electric bed, TED’s, SCD, and side rails.
  • Provides feedback information useful in the evaluation by the Clinical Partner-RN.
  • Assists with patient’s personal care as a member of the care team; competent in giving patient care to meet the needs of that patient’s age.
  • Ensures patient and staff safety by demonstrating safe work practices when giving patient care, using universal precautions, and using personal protective equipment (gloves) per policy.
  • Greets, escorts, and orients patients/family/visitors to the Care Center; handles patients’ belongings and valuables properly.
  • Refers patient care to Care Team members as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Able to effectively function as a team member, accepts directions;
  • Takes responsibility and is accountable for actions;
  • Maintains ethical standards and is willing to learn and grow;
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • One year of acute care or outpatient care experience preferred.
