Position Summary

Corewell Health has an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Strategy Facility Planner for the system. that will oversee over twenty-two million square feet across the state of Michigan. Moreover, Corewell Health is currently conducting a new Strategic Facility Plan for the East Region that will drive its long-term real estate strategy. Corewell Health currently has over $800 million in active strategic facility projects, so this is a great time to join our dynamic and growing real estate team and be part of this strategic assessment. The Healthcare Strategy Facility Planner will work in partnership with the Sr. Director of Real Estate Strategy toward the overarching goal to provide Corewell Health System with the most optimal real estate portfolio. This will allow for the best care in a more efficient environment, increasing value, decreasing cost, and improving outcomes.

Job Summary

The Healthcare Strategy Facility Planner, advisor to the Sr. Director of Real Estate Strategy for Corewell Health System, will maintain the Enterprise Strategic Facility Plan, including preparation of reports outlining capacity requirements to support anticipated approved growth, space allocations, space utilization analysis, and recommendations related to key business unit requirements. Maintain an inventory data / drawings confirming space availability and best use of space system-wide. Performs feasibility studies to determine the best real estate-facilities option for strategic projects that synthesizes the strategic, financial and operational implications of analyses that modernizes and right sizes the acute care, ambulatory and administrative real estate portfolio.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains, and update as necessary, Corewell Health's Enterprise Strategic Facility Plan, including preparation reports outlining capacity requirements to support anticipated approved growth, space allocations, space utilization analysis, and recommendations related to business unit requirements. Maintains an inventory data/drawings confirming space availability.
  • Leads feasibility and real estate planning activities at Corewell Health. Performs advanced planning studies to determine the best real estate-facilities option that synthesizes the strategic, financial and operational implications of analyses.
  • Performs space programming with business units that modernizes and right sizes the acute care, ambulatory and administrative real estate portfolio, and assure Corewell Health is leveraging existing assets before investing in new assets.
  • Regularly presents results and updates with Corewell Health leadership, effectively communicating strategies and tactics through verbal and written forms to create buy-in and support.
  • Performs real estate-facilities feasibility services for site selection, space planning, and building sizing, and supports the planning, design and construction of new and renovation needs. Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of the departmental annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.
  • Proactively initiates and develops industry and market-based analysis of healthcare trends, competitor threats, expansion opportunities and internal real estate performance standards
  • Supports and mentors real estate services, facility planning and project managers across the Corewell Health System to ensure the high quality, accurate information and data, translating the data into meaningful information.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7 years of relevant experience Healthcare Master Facility planning & Real Estate Development activities including report preparation, working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare planning
  • Experience in real estate-facilities master planning
  • Healthcare Real Estate experience, and skilled in best practices for contract negotiation tactics and strategies
  • LIC-Architect - STATE_MI State of Michigan
