JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: HR Generalist

Location: 589 Rockaway Ave; Brooklyn, NY 11212

Department: Administrative

Direct Supervisor: HR Director

Salary: $60-65,000/ year

Supervision: None

Status: Non-Union, Non-Exempt

Overview:

Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures, controlling correspondence, maintaining inventory, approving supply requisitions, and assigning and monitoring clerical functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage weekly schedules for all departments
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Oversee Time & Attendance for company and contracted employees
  • Maintain, track, and review compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments
  • Provide support in recruitment and onboarding of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Assist Director of HR in implementing new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Manage and maintain company’s ID/ Access System
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of HR
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
