We are currently seeking an HR Manager to join our Human Resources team. This position will be working out of our 102nd East Harlem location. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, and this position also partners with TDF leadership team, managers and employees to communicate and interpret HR policies and procedures.
Currently, we are following a hybrid work model, however, this role does require traveling within the 5 boroughs at least 4-5 times a month. - Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR compliance.
- Top-notch written and verbal communication skills
- Coaching and mediation skills, positive attitude and a team-oriented spirit
- HR Certification (SHRM-SCP or SPHR) preferred
- You can communicate effectively with Managers at all levels of the organization
- You have experience in working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail/Documents, Mail chimp, Constant Contact, ADP WorkforceNow, UKG, Kronos

Employee Relations
- Advises and trains hiring managers and supervisors on best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances.
- Serves as an escalation point for employee relations issues, conduct supporting investigations or mediations as needed.
- Uses interactive employee interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues.
- Analyze information, makes recommendations on changes, and facilitates the appropriate corrective action including termination of employment
- Researches and explains laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Serve as an internal consultant to facilitate team building; support changes in group strategy/directions/expectations.
- Collaborates with leadership on matters of policy and terms of memoranda of understanding before and throughout process.
- Collaborates with legal counsel and departments in the preparation for and participation in negotiation with separation of employment, and associated labor groups.
- Develops new employee-related initiatives that drive employee engagement
Benefit Responsibilities
- Initiate, and work on implementing Benefit Enhancement projects with Benefit Administrator up to and including wellness seminars, health fairs, etc. - collaborate with Benefit Administrator on employee benefit communications, advertisement emails, etc.
- Track, and review all carrier utilization and experience reports for Commuter, Delta, Empire Blue, FSA, Vision, etc.
- Serve as a backup to trouble shoot benefit issues in person, over the phone and via email i.e. claims, provider issues, carrier issues, setting up appointments - communicate with outside agencies and health providers regarding benefits related issues
- Serve as a backup in preparation of New Hire Benefit Folders received from payroll; file all pertinent benefit information including inputting of new employees’ benefits enrollments and make necessary changes in ADP and carrier portals as needed
- Serve as a back up to manage, track, maintain, and communicate information on employees including monthly benefit related status reports or as needed
- Ad hoc reporting
- Creating and/or pulling ADP reports for HR team and other key staff upon request
- Work with HR Director to maintain, and update TDF Employee handbook
- Ensure department files are audit ready - work collaboratively with other TDF departments’ to provide employee demographic information for fundraising, grants, etc.
- Manage the workers’ compensation filing, submission workers compensation forms C2s, C240 etc.
- Communicate with WC broker, document, troubleshoot and track WC claims
